Noodle-like rock formations on Mars are said to have been formed by an ancient bacterium found on rock formations on Earth and on harsh surroundings that are similar to areas on Mars. The formations look like fettuccine pasta (in cable formation) and capellini pasta (when moving downstream) so the rover could examine it easily for signs of life.
The species of bacteria is known scientifically as Sulfurihydrogenibium yellowstonense or just Sulfuri. It is identified as an organism that evolved before the Earth was even oxygenated—2.35 Billion years ago. This tenacious microbe can live in an environment saturated with hot water, and extreme UV light. IT can also live in an oxygen-deprived habitat, with only carbon dioxide and sulfur as its sources of energy. Because of these qualities, it is an ideal colonizing organism for Mars and other planets like it. The one-of-a-kind structure and shape of the rocks correlated with Sulfuri are from its bizarre way of life. The bacteria hold on to each other in strong currents. These bacteria are truly clear-cut confirmation that there is alien life on Mars.
