NASA Satellites Show Scorched Earth in Amazon

The Amazon is the largest tropical rainforest in the world, spanning nine nations. It can be quite easy to miss out on geographical anomalies.

New observations from NASA satellites have detected and recorded record high temperatures originating from the Amazon area. NASA’s Ecosystem Spaceborne Thermal Radiometer Experiment on Space Station (ECOSTRESS) recorded the worrying signs from the areas close to Bolivia and Brazil.

The unique elevated position of ECOSTRESS allows scientists to study an environment through different times in a day. This offers considerable advantage over other observatories within the area.
