The First Stars

The Birth Of The Universe’s First Stars

Scientists discovered that the first twinkle of the stars appeared about 180 Million years ago. They said that the appearance, termed as the “cosmic dawn”, left its signature on the hydrogen gas that surrounds the stars now. A radio antenna was reported to have picked this up. The signal was a dip in the radio wave intensity across significant frequencies. It was more than two times stronger than expected. This huge signal was colder than the scientists expected.

The hydrogen was cooled by the latest types of interactions between particles of dark matter and the hydrogen itself. Dark matter is a mysterious substance, of which majority of the universe is made. Other scientists are devising different ways of clarifying the signal as we speak.
