Before the Mariner 10 spacecraft, all we could do was theorize, postulate and basically guess what Mercury and cloud covered Venus looked like.
We had photos and data from other scientific instruments, but Mariner 10’s journey not only changed how we viewed Venus and Mercury, but when added to earlier Mariner flight information, it also changed many details on how we think our entire solar system came to be.
Fabulous animation, photography and an excellent reminder at how excited we all were to be able to discover new things in space … from space.
